Flywheel Tooth Number: 164. The flywheel is bolted to the crankshaft. Its mass helps balance the engine and dampen vibration, it provides the mounting point for the clutch cover and the friction surface for the clutch disc, and the teeth around its circumference provide engagement for the starter drive. The flywheel surface can become worn and scored to the point it requires replacement, and the ring gear teeth can become damaged.
